How about this?

.REGISTER A:link, .REGISTER A:visited {
 background-color: #663333;
 border-width: 2px;
 border-color: #FFcc99;
 border-style: solid;
 padding: 4px;
 color: #FFFFFF;
 font-size: 16px;
 font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
}
and

.SHORTABOUT {
 width: 750px;
 background-color: #330000;
 border-width: 2px;
 border-color: #996633;
 border-style: solid;
 margin-top: 1px;
 margin-right: 10px;
 margin-bottom: 10px;
 margin-left: 1px;
 color: black;
}
The current colours are a little... scary :)

That looks like the colours of a bailey's coffee, one of the ugliest drinks known to man.

It's very far away from some nice cat-colour too.

Yes, but I don't think that's a good thing as that sofa is awful.

I hated the grey when I first joined, but I've grown to like it. I tried out the purple, but much as I liked it, it just looked so wrong, I put it back to grey again.

Cat-fur in the background? You know, like a red cat?

Or basically anything that isn't brown, grey or screaming. The current cats to the left have nice colours.

But those colors would be screaming or grey/brown if you would make it into a stylesheet ;)
