Help the People

Help the Animals

I think we're all aware of what happened on August 29 in Mississippi, New Orleans, and several other places.
A massive hurricane, Hurricane Katrina, was so strong it broke the Levees protecting New Orleans, and flooded the entire city. Houses were ripped from their foundations, leaving people with nowhere to go. Kids lost their parents. Parents lost their kids.

People lost their pets.

It's a huge deal that there are hundreds of people without anywhere to go.

But isn't it just as huge a deal that there are pets without a home? Without people to care for them? Without people to get love from, to be patted? Pets without food or shelter? This is just as big a deal as the people without homes.

Pets need care, too.

So I'm posting a link to Noah's Wish Foundation, an organization that helps provide shelter for animals. They've made a branch helping the animals that were harmed in the hurricane.

Think about these poor pets without homes. Without food, or people, or shelter. Without anyone to hold them and comfort them.

Imagine how you would feel if you were them.

So go to Noah's Wish Foundation and donate just something - it doesn't have to be a lot. If enough people donate, homes can be found for these pets. Imagine that it's your own cat or dog or snake or parakeet that you're helping. Just put in a few cents.

Please.

2005-09-08 [Serenity]: This is for a really good cause, everyone, so please at least go to the site and read it.

2005-12-21 [nokaredes]: You know what makes me mad about the lost pets? People weren't allowed to evacuate with their pets in most cases. And now people are rescuing these pets and saying "oh, the past owners didn't care for their pets, they left them behind to die. I won't bother helping find their old owners." Well I think that's just stupid because I thought about it in terms of me--my mom has a car and if we ever had to evacuate we would not be able to fit 2 humans, 4 cats, a dog, and 2 gerbils in the car, not even if we put someone in the trunk (which we wouldn't do). And that doesn't even include things like photographs or clothes or things we would want to keep in the car! Also, not everybody even has a car.

2005-12-21 [nokaredes]: I'll shutup now. *shifty eyes*
