Kai-san’s betrayal.

Naomi watched the flare disappear; she smirked as the other hunters laughed over the death of a pretty strong vampire. Daemon appeared at Naomi’s side “The hunters seem pretty amused. How powerful was she Miss Naomi?” he purred, gently touching her arm. Naomi turned “That Daemon was Rachel Dante. She is quite powerful. And I believe she has family.” Naomi grinned “Just looks like more to destroy. That makes me feel much better.” Daemon smiled “Any chance we might get more tonight?” Naomi shrugged, as the figure in white appeared. “Gashi.” He said “Hello, Miss Naomi, my name is Kai-San…I am a hunter from the east…” Naomi tilted her head “Apart from your accent and your…err…dress sense…you do not seem Asian sir.” Kai-San nodded “No…but my family is, I was born, because my father had an affair with a shoufu, from America…” Naomi stared at him “Had an affair with a what?” Daemon leaned over her shoulder “A harlot, or a prostitute Miss Naomi…” Naomi nodded. “Oh, okay…and you are a hunter? What are your skills?” she looked at him.
Kai-San brushed his ice-white hair from his face, “I can tatakai quite skilfully...Misu Naomi…err…I mean…I can fight quite skilfully…” he smiled at her. Naomi glanced at him and looked away. “Show me.” She whispered. Daemon stepped forwards, drawing his shinto katana, approaching Kai-San. Kai-San nodded and drew his twenty-two inch wakizashi. Daemon nodded to him, gently touching the tip of his blade against Kai-San’s “Ready?” he murmured. Kai-San smirked “Ladies first.” He replied.
As the two blades touched, Kai-San slid into the splits, and Daemon swung the blade downwards above his head. Kai-San grinned and span, he curled into a ball, as the sword came mere inches from the tip of his pointed nose, and he kicked Daemon from under his feet. As soon as Daemon hit the floor, Kai-San was stood over him, holding the tip of his Wakizashi at Daemon’s throat “Chekkumeito, Checkmate.” He nodded, saluting him. “Domo Arigato Gozaimasu. Thank you very much for that sparring match. It was fairly enjoyable.”
Naomi stared at him “What the hell are you? You are the first person to have done that to him in five years…” she stared at him in awe. Daemon stood up “He, is a Kaicho, from the Sei Do Kai…very, very honourable.” He said, re-sheathing his sword. Kai-San nodded impressively. Naomi glared at him “Than why the hell is he here? Doesn’t he have some poor defenceless teenagers to scare the crap out of?” Kai-San shook his head “My dojo was destroyed by vampires…” he lied, praying his cover would stay out until he could find out what the hell these people were planning. Naomi finally nodded “okay, you can join us, but betray us, and I swear, it won’t just be your ‘dojo’ that will be destroyed. I’m talking body parts.” She hissed. She walked away. Kai-San laughed “Wakarimasu.” He said, Daemon smirked “Yes, Yes, I know you understand Kaicho.”

Alicia walked through the darkness, following Loki. Georgina sighed “We have to have some source of light Loki. Nosotros menester lampara!” Loki turned “What the hell are you saying girl? Speak some god-damned English!!” he sighed heavily. Georgina looked at him “I said, we need some light!” she shouted back at him. Aureus stepped in between them “Oh for the love of the dark lord. Would you two please shut up? It’s silence that is golden, not two bickering bitches. Now please. We need to move on, before someone in Brazil hears you. Now, as for the light, J’ai volai un allumer. I stole a light, we now have a torch.” As he said this, he pulled from his coat pocket, a black light. He switched it on, and all of them were cast in a light purple glow. “Better?” he asked. Georgina nodded “Si, Gracias.” She smiled warmly, and Loki snatched the light. He started walking again, Georgina with him. Aureus stalked forwards huffily, followed by Kari and Flwy. Alicia looked at Crovat “I’m sorry I accused you of killing my brother monsieur.” She whispered. Crovat gently lifted her head “It is not a problem mademoiselle, honestly. I’m glad you don’t think that of me now.” He smiled at her and she took his hand in hers. Loki tilted his head “Wait a moment. There is a vampire above us, right in the middle of humans, and they don’t even know it yet!” Georgina tilted her head too. “All I sense is rejoice…” Loki nodded “I can sense a vampire…I swear it…on my mothers grave.” Georgina hit him again as he chuckled, and he clutched his chest in pain. “It was a joke George. Jeez, lighten up!”
Flwy lifted his head “I can sense something too…I think…”Kari smiled “What is it you think you sense.” She asked him. Flwy stared a moment “Fear of being caught…” Kari stared at him “You have a power that none of us have…I believe Flwy you have the power to read panicked minds…” Kari smiled. Flwy shrugged. “I still think we should ignore it.” He said.
Alicia and Crovat rushed past them, running along the pitch-black corridor. Loki looked at them “What the…” he turned and saw a faint glow coming along the corridor “Is that…sunlight?” he pushed Georgina forwards and grabbed Aureus by the scruff of his neck “Go. Now!” Kari rushed forwards, pulling Flwy with her, as they all hurtled along the corridor towards a sharp turn inwards. Crovat hid Alicia, by standing in front of her and facing her “Don’t argue.” He whispered “I’m doing this for your brother.” Alicia nodded and held onto him, fear reflecting from her eyes. The light stopped and went out suddenly and silence returned to the vampires once more. Loki watched the light disappear and hissed, covering Georgina; Aureus blocked Flwy and Kari also.
Loki waited and watched the silence. A glint of silver caught his eye, and as he watched a figure in white protruded from the shadows “Who are you?” he commanded. The figure stared “Kai-San.” He replied. “And you, you must be the great Lord Loki.” He bowed, leaning on his Wakizashi. Loki rolled his eyes “Why does every bugger we come across believe me to be my father?!” Gerogina giggled. “Apparently senore, you look very much like him…” Alicia smirked from behind Crovat. “Oui…he does…” Alicia smiled. Loki shook his head “NO! I shall have nothing to do with that thing! That…blood sucking parasite!” Aureus smiled, “Then what are you? A cute little boy with fangs the size of peanuts? I doubt it.”

Crovat stepped away from Alicia, and smiled, Georgina hugged Loki “Calm down senore.” Loki nodded “Alright…” Aureus held onto Kari and Flwy “Come, I believe we shall have more company.” He glanced at Kai-San “The humans are plotting something. You must go back to them before they find you out!”
Alicia turned “Wait…he was the vampire we sensed?” Kai-San nodded “Most likely Misu Alucard.” He brushed his hair from his face again and shouldered his wakizashi. “It’s a shame you belong to Lord Crovat. If you had not, I would have taken you for myself.” He licked his lips. Alicia looked at him disgusted “Non! I do not belong to him, although, if this is what would happen had I not belonged to him, I rather wish I did…” Crovat smiled at her and held her close to him. Kai-San looked put out. “Very well, I shall return to the others…” and with that he left them standing in the corridor.
Flwy hugged Kari “Come on, we don’t want to get stuck here forever.” He smirked and walked with her further along the corridor. Alicia smiled to herself as she walked hand in hand with Crovat along the corridor. Aureus glared at them silently, then turned his gaze to Georgina and Loki. He sighed heavily. Kari watched Aureus interestedly, she left Flwy’s side, leaving Flwy to create imaginary guitar riffs to another song he’d been working on, and she approached Aureus “I…I’m sorry about Rachel,” she said quietly. Aureus looked at her, so Kari continued “I’d never spoken to her…what was she like?” Aureus half-smiled, remembering the nights they spent feeding together, sharing a victim between them, happily. “She was the most beautiful vampire that had ever walked this earth…” he whispered sadly “And she was taken from me…my first love…” Kari looked at him, uncertain of how to react to this “She would want you to go on Monsieur Alucard.” Aureus shook his head “I…I promised her…that I would return to her, so we could stay alive for eternity…together…” Kari bit her lip. Flwy watched them silently, following them as they turned a corner, after Alicia, Crovat, Georgina and Loki. “Aureus, you could not have done more to help her.” Kari whispered. As she said this, Aureus’ eyes burned scarlet, and he tackled Crovat to the floor, pummelling his sides and face. Kari shrieked. Aureus punched Crovat harder, as Alicia began hitting her brother, trying desperately to fight him off of Crovat. “I could have saved her! But you knocked me out! You…you…killed her!” he bellowed at Crovat, tears in his eyes. “I saved you.” Crovat hissed, hiding his face from Aureus, who was desperate to mark every part of Crovat he could reach, even if it meant pulling off his mask. “You! You knocked me out! And watched them murder my wife!” He shouted. Alicia hurled herself against her brother’s huge body, trying harder to get him off Crovat, who seemed to be nearing unconsciousness. Loki stepped up and began tugging at Aureus’ shoulders “Now…I understand why so many vampires fear this monkey-man.” He grumbled. Finally, Aureus ceased pounding Crovat, allowing Loki and Alicia to be push and pull him off of Crovat. He instantly broke down “I just cannot believe she is dead…” he cried.
“Get my Lord away from mon frère.” Alicia hissed to Loki, who nodded, and with Kari, Flwy and Georgina’s help, they managed to carry his semi-conscious form away from Aureus, as Alicia approached her brother. “Alright Aureus, I know you’re upset, but this has gone too far. You did not have the right to behave as you did.” She hugged him “He did it to save you!” Alicia said in his ear. Aureus shook his head, sobbing on his little sisters’ shoulder. “If it was at my wife’s cost, then I would rather have died trying to save her…” he sobbed. Alicia patted his back gently “Come on Aureus, you were better than this when ma mere died…” she made him look at her and smiled warmly “If you give up now, who knows what you’ll be missing brother. Come, we have much we need to do still.” She reached into her pocket and pulled a tattered letter out, which she handed to Aureus. “Ma mere left me this. You had no idea that it was Mon père that killed her. She betrayed him, to save us…” she murmured. Aureus looked at the letter, which read:

My Darling children,
Words cannot describe how much you two mean to me. I am writing this letter hurriedly, so as to give you a foundation as to why I had to leave. My life was endangered when I stood up to your father. I left, so that he would not harm you, knowing you were all he had left. He tried to kill a very important person, and I intervened. Your father was very cross. Please do not blame him; he cannot control his rage as you already know. So, with all the fire in the skies, that burn with the stars, I send to my cherubs all my last love, and remember I am with you always, to guide you.

With love children,
Mother.

Aureus stared at the paper “How long have you had this?” he asked quietly. Alicia shrugged “About two or three hundred years…I often read it when I feel lonely, which is why you need to understand, that what Lord Crovat did, was exactly as ma mere did. He did it to save you, as ma mere sacrificed herself to save us. You know pa père had a temper on him, why did you not believe that she was gone for good? Did you think she was to turn up again? Father is dead also Aureus; and you are all I have left. Please, do not give me a reason to hate you.” With that, Alicia turned and stalked off, after the others, leaving Aureus to stare at the letter, before he followed his sister. ‘Why does she have to be so intelligent?’ he thought to himself.
Naomi looked up when she heard footsteps approaching. She raised an eyebrow when Kai-San entered her line of vision. “And just where have you been?” she asked. Kai-San shrugged “I needed the bathroom, why? Are you planning on sending me accompaniment to the loo Misu Naomi?” Naomi half-smiled “No, but I’m considering it.” Kai-San shrugged “Jus thought you’d like to know, I have a source. The vampires are planning to move, their moving North.” He said. Naomi stared “How in the hell do you know that?” Kai-San sighed “Honestly, women. I said; I have a source. He is a vampire. As long as he remains un-named and un-harmed, I get all the info I require to catch vampires.” He smirked at Naomi. “No way!” she hissed “Fine. We shall follow them. How far north do you think they are going?” she asked. Kai-San smirked. “They are going to Glasgow.” He replied. Naomi nodded “Prepare yourself then. We move out at Dawn. Three hours Kaicho.” She hissed. Kai-San grinned “I’m not waiting; I’m going up there now.” He turned and fled, once out of their eyesight, he turned into an alley, and clambered into a drain, setting off after the vampires, in their, underground transport system.
Daemon watched Naomi carefully “I really feel weird about that Kai-San guy…he isn’t to be trusted.” He hissed. Naomi nodded “I know, anyone who associates with vampires is not to be trusted. I however, am allowing him to believe he is being trusted.” She smirked. ‘God, she is so smart.’ He thought, looking at her fondly. Naomi caught a glimpse of him watching her and blushed; glad her hair covered most of her face. She suddenly lifted her head “Can you tell me…what you think of Kai-San?” she suddenly asked Daemon. Daemon looked taken aback “He is a respected dojo master, but he seems a bit weird…” he answered. Naomi nodded “Did you notice that as the sun was rising, he left us?” Daemon suddenly clicked onto what she was saying “Miss Naomi? You think he is a vampire? It is impossible!” he exclaimed. Naomi shook her head “No, it is not. Look, he appears here, out of nowhere, and he says he knows where these vampires are going, then he befriends us, tells us exactly what part of the country they are headed for, and disappears before the sun rises. I think he is a bit of a traitor to them, so he is working with us…” she finished looking at the sun as it rose. Daemon stared at her, stunned at her logic “Well, I now know where you get your brains from Miss Naomi.” He said with a smile “Your grandfather taught you well.” He bowed his head to her. “I think we should wait, before we jump to any conclusions. We should watch him, as he has undoubtedly watched us for a while.” He nodded his head “Come, we need sleep, although the sunrise is beautiful, you need rest to get to Glasgow.” Naomi stood and nodded “I will rest on the train. We need to move. Now.” She commanded. Daemon nodded and he and Naomi headed, followed by the other hunters, towards the station.

Aureus stared at his sister, she had resumed her place at Crovat’s side, and was checking his bruises. Aureus inhaled deeply, and then approached Crovat, who turned to greet his shadowed guest. “Yes monsieur? Can I help you?” Crovat asked, praying to the dark lord he wouldn’t get hit again. “I wanted to apologise monsieur, I was out of order. Forgive me.” A smile touched at Crovat’s lips “Brother, you have no need to apologise. You had lost someone dear to you. But, I had to do it, you are an asset alive, than deceased.” He smirked, pointing to the bruises on his shoulders, neck and face. “You see how strong you are? This is why we need you, and also, you are no good to your sister dead.” He motioned to Alicia who looked at her brother.
“Well, what kind of frère would I be then?” he smiled at Alicia, who stared at him. She immediately hugged her brother “Merci!!” she said happily. “Come, we must head on to Glasgow, I have a feeling we shall have a guard of honour waiting there for us.” Purred Crovat. Flwy stepped forwards with Kari “It was that Kai-San guy wasn’t it?” he asked. Georgina looked at them and flicked her hair from her eyes. Loki grinned “That means I get to dismember a vampire? Great stuff!!!” he called, punching the air.

A few metres behind them Kai-San’s hollow heart skipped a beat “Crap…they know…” he whispered, and followed them as silently as a shadow. He watched them quietly for a weakness, and found one. ‘The big guy doesn’t want to lose his sister’ he thought to himself ‘and she doesn’t want to lose him either, so if I get her to choose between Crovvy and the brother, I have a scapegoat if need be…’ He cursed himself for what he had to do, intending to use the hunters to his advantage as well. He waited for his moment and set off after them.
Alicia could sense that someone was behind them, but stayed silent nevertheless, she wanted this kill to be done privately, therefore, she need not worry her brother, and maybe get some answers about Kai-San. She kept her eyes ahead of her and slowed her breathing “Aureus…” she murmured “Go to Georgina and Loki, see if they are alright, take Kari and Flwy with you.” She smiled at him warmly. Aureus stared at her knowing smile and decided not to argue; he’d had enough fights for one day. He walked past her, beckoning Flwy and Kari with him. Crovat looked down at her puzzled and tilted his head “Mademoiselle?” he asked in French, to avoid being overheard, he sensed that was the reason for Alicia’s secrecy “Qu'est-ce que c'est? What is it?” Alicia glanced up at him and whispered almost silently “Don’t react to what I say…we are not alone at the moment…” she smirked at the look on his face “I can smell a vampire following us…” she gestured to him to keep moving with the others, so he left her, she turned around quickly, holding her knife to Kai-San’s throat. “You again?” she whispered silently, cuffing his mouth, to shut him up. “You are following us? You will die if you lead the hunters to us, is that clear?” Kai-San nodded “I’m going to Glasgow with you…” he choked. Alicia stared “Wait…where are the hunters going?” she hissed. From the look on his face Alicia knew “You traitor…” she hissed, digging her nails into his cheeks, blood started to trickle from his eyes, and nose, before Alicia let go, he choked and fell to the ground and stood up. Alicia span quickly slashing his throat. Blood spattered everywhere and he sighed aloud. Alicia stared at him, standing momentarily aloof, before she drove her sword into his chest, piercing his hollow heart and walking away as his body disintegrated.
Crovat turned when he heard her approaching, he raised an eyebrow at the state on her, her pale skin was spattered with droplets of blood and she hissed at him. As they passed an alcove, a vampire walked out “Who goes there?” he asked. Alicia turned “We are going, we have a war to win.” She hissed, her fangs bared, the vampire nodded “Let me help. My name is Dwr. I feed on children, then teach them to fight. I taught one of your clan.” He said. Kari turned “Dwr?” she asked. He nodded. “Legit?” Alicia asked. Kari smiled and nodded “Of course.” Alicia smirked “Alright. Not a sound until we reach Glasgow.” And everyone set off, leaving Kai-San’s dust to fall through the chicken-wire like floor.
Naomi closed her eyes once they were on the train. Daemon smiled at her and held her close to him “Don’t want your head hitting the window now do we?” he said. Naomi smiled and cuddled close to him, she could feel his heart beating and could smell his cologne. She smiled to herself and drifted into an easy sleep. As the train rattled faster towards Glasgow, so did the vampires. Each one of them thinking different things; Were they going to win? Or die? Was there any point in recruiting just one more member? And what was awaiting them at Glasgow?
